Run, Forrest, Run

—

I went for a run today, and let me tell you I am still out of shape. Honestly, it wasn’t that bad for hills. The first mile was 10minutes and the second mile was 11minutes. I did jog and walk during the second mile. I was tired, congested, and I really wanted to walk back to my car, but I had an epiphany. What would I do if I was running with somebody? “See that sign! Start to run there and run to that tree.” It worked until I that became harder to accomplish. Then I had to give myself smaller goals to get to that furthest point. “Get to that tree. You made it. Get to that weird looking cactus tree. You made! Make it to the last tree and then you can walk.” I even noticed if I am running on the treadmill and the goal was to run for 30 minutes, I have to constantly tell myself “just 5 minutes. You can give another 5.” Eventually, I will make it to 30. What is the lesson? Find the small goals within the larger one. I will eventually make it.
